Assemblyman Durso, Supervisor Carpenter, & the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office to Hold a Shed The Meds Event

New York State Assemblyman Michael Durso, in coordination with Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter, and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, will be holding a Shed The Meds Event on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the West Islip Higbie Lane Senior Center.This is a great opportunity for residents to be able to safely and properly discard their unused, expired, and unwanted medications.This contactless, drive through event will be held with proper COVID-19 guidelines in place.Just drive up, drop-off, and drive away!

“The Shed the Meds event provides a safe, convenient, and responsible way to get rid of unneeded medications; keeping them out of the hands of our children and protecting the environment,” said Assemblyman Durso. 

“Disposing of potentially dangerous pharmaceuticals safely ensures they stay out of the hands of our children, out of our landfills and drinking water, while at the same time, educating our residents on the proper way to dispose of their medications,” said Islip Supervisor, Angie Carpenter.

  • Block out name for anonymity
  • DO NOT cross out medication information on label
  • Illegal narcotics may also be dropped off anonymously
  • Please note that needles, sharps, or liquid medications will NOT be accepted
