Assemblyman Colton Responds to Social Media Story
“My office has learned of a WeChat story being circulated regarding a fight that took place between two students and their family members, initially in the schoolyard at IS 201 after school hours. According to the post, the violence continued when someone from one of the sides went to the home of the other family this past week. The WeChat comments on these incidents contain many inaccuracies, and it appears arrests have been made of individuals on both sides involved in these incidents,” said Assemblyman William Colton (D—Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Dyker Heights).
“My office has reached out to the various city agencies and community leaders to learn the true circumstances and to ensure a fair resolution is reached. Violence must not be resorted to, to solve disputes and we must ensure everyone is fairly treated and protected. We are offering assistance in ensuring that fair justice is obtained.”
