Assemblyman Colton to Participate in Bensonhurst Health Fair

Assemblyman William Colton (D—Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Dyker Heights) is delighted to join a consortium of local organizations when they put on the annual Spring Into Health fair at the end of May.

The event will take place on Saturday, May 30, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Seth Low Playground, at the intersection of Bay Parkway, West 12th Street and Avenue P.

Numerous local organizations and officials will have tables. In addition, highlights of the event include Zumba, a cultural dance, a Kung Fu Fan demonstration and giveaways.

“I am always eager to participate in events such as this one, which bring important information to the neighborhood at large,” said Assemblyman Colton. “Having such events makes it easier to reach the many, diverse members of our community, who all benefit from the sort of information that is disseminated, and who can all enjoy the cultural aspect of the event. The fair is both fun and informative, a winning combination. I look forward to seeing my neighbors, and hope you will all stop by at our table to say hello.”

Among the community-based sponsors of the event, which was originally developed by the New York City Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD), are the United Chinese Association of Brooklyn (UCA), Chinese American Social Services (CASS), the Bay Parkway Merchants Association and Homecrest Community Services.

This is the 10th year that DYCD has organized the Spring Into Health campaign, which the agency describes on its website as “an opportunity for DYCD and our partners to connect with communities, share resources, and expand access to health and supportive services for program participants and their families.” The theme for 2026 is “Wellness Without Barriers,” which focuses on fostering health equity across New York City by reaching out to people of all ages and all communities, in a host of different languages. Among the features of the event, according to DYCD, are “multilingual resources and preventive screenings,” as well as “mental health support and chronic disease education.”
