Pirozzolo Joins Call for Increased Public Safety Measures and Reversal of Bail Reform Laws
Assemblyman Sam Pirozzolo (R,C-Staten Island) joined his Assembly and Senate Minority colleagues, family members of crime victims, victims’ right advocates and members of law enforcement for a press conference on Monday to call for increased public safety measures throughout the state and a reversal of previously passed bail reform laws. This renewed call for changes to the criminal justice system comes as crime is spiking in major cities across New York.
“Since when did public safety become such a partisan issue?” asked Pirozzolo. “Albany Majority lawmakers should heed the advice of New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who says we need to address bail reform and the scourge of repeat offenders. My Republican colleagues and I have worked closely with members of law enforcement in offering practical solutions, including returning judicial discretion to our courtrooms. The time for meaningful change is now. We cannot allow this senseless crime to continue.”
