Smullen Announces 2024 Venison for Veterans & Seniors of Fulton and Montgomery Counties

Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C-Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks) is proud to announce the 16th Annual Venison for Veterans & Seniors of Fulton and Montgomery Counties. This volunteer event supplied by local hunters and in partnership with assemblymembers, the Fulton and Montgomery Offices for the Aging, the Fulton and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Offices and local community groups will take place at Fulton Montgomery Community College on April 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“I am very excited to see the return of this incredible event,” said Smullen. “Every year Venison for Veterans is held, it is a huge success. Last year we had an amazing turnout, and I am certain we will have an even greater turnout this year. Veterans and seniors facing food insecurity need our help and support, and this event provides that support through community outreach and engagement. I am very thankful for our participating hunters and game clubs who donate game year after year to this event.”

Anyone with questions or concerns about this event is encouraged to reach out. Veterans and seniors can call Andrea Fettinger of the Fulton County Office of the Aging at (518) 736-5650 or David Jordan of the Montgomery County Office of the Aging at (518) 843-2300 to leave their name, address, zip code and telephone number to receive venison, fish and other wild game. The donated game has been kept in freezer storage through a partnership with Don Wicksell of Kingsboro Lumber Company and Tom Georgia of Tribes Hill.

“We are just two months away from the big day, but there is still much to do. I will be sure to keep everyone updated moving forward so this year’s Venison for Veterans is as successful as ever. Thank you in advance to everyone who assists in making this event happen—seeing neighbors helping neighbors in this way is truly inspiring,” concluded Smullen.
