Assemblyman Ramos: SOMOS Kick Off a Big Success
Assemblyman Phil Ramos (D-Brentwood) kicked off the 30th Annual SOMOS El Futuro Legislative Conference in Albany at the annual Senior Luncheon, as well as the Collegiate Summit.
“For three decades, SOMOS has paved the way for inclusivity and better opportunities for Latinos in New York,” said Ramos. “SOMOS brings generations of people together to celebrate our rich history and share ideas to benefit our neighborhoods. I thank everyone who came out to support and strengthen our diverse communities and all the bright students who have taken an active interest in their government.”
The SOMOS El Futuro Legislative Conference, organized in collaboration with the Assembly Puerto Rican/Hispanic Task Force, is a yearly event for New Yorkers to celebrate Latin culture and attend workshops, seminars and special forums to discuss issues facing Latino and diverse communities. While the Senior Luncheon brings people together to commemorate Latin history and recognize significant contributions, the Collegiate Summit gives motivated students the opportunity to broaden their skills and gain a better understanding of the legislative process and of how their government functions.
