Assemblywoman Solages Celebrates Haitian Heritage Month in Valley Stream

Valley Stream, NY More than 100 community members gathered at VFW Post 1790 on May 22 for Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages and Nassau County Legislator Carrie Solages’ annual Haitian Heritage Month Celebration, an evening dedicated to recognizing Haitian culture, community leadership, and heritage.

The annual event filled with music, food, and fellowship, is dedicated to recognizing Haitian culture and heritage both locally and around the world.

The event also recognized three Haitian community members for their contributions and service: Peter Pouchon, Naama Francois, and Joshua Joseph 

Throughout the evening, organizers also shared information about resources available to Haitian families, including assistance related to Temporary Protected Status, asylum, and humanitarian parole applications.
