Brabenec Highlights His ‘Fix the Roads’ Initiative Amid Pothole Season
Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C-Deerpark) is highlighting his Fix the Roads initiative within the 98th Assembly District, which is comprised of parts of Rockland and Orange counties. Across the Hudson Valley, the prevalence of potholes has presented a seasonal problem for residents. In 2025 alone, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) filled in 1.3 million potholes statewide, up from 1.2 million in the year prior.
Brabenec has a long history of working closely with the NYSDOT to locate and repair potholes across our community. This work has been driven by his Fix the Roads initiative, which allows residents to report potholes in their area to be fixed. Brabenec is proud to spearhead this program and encourages all residents to visit FixTheRoadsNY.com to make our roadways safe and accessible for all.
“After a brutal winter, we are now dealing with what can only be called pothole season,” said Brabenec. “You see it everywhere across Orange and Rockland. It is unacceptable. Last year, I fought hard to secure $120 million for NYSDOT Region 8 to repair and improve our roads. This year, we are pushing to do it again. But let’s be honest: Money alone will not fix this. We need accountability. That is why our office launched FixTheRoadsNY.com. If you see a pothole or a dangerous stretch of road, report it. We will take it directly to the appropriate agency and stay on it until it is addressed.”
