Glen Cove, New York – New York State Assemblymember Charles Lavine (D-North Shore) has issued the following statement on the death of the Rev. Jesse Jackson:

“Bill Clinton once said the cause of justice has no greater co-worker than Jesse Jackson. I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the civil rights icon who was one of the last living links to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the movement he led, which changed our country.

I was privileged to meet Reverend Jackson at a fair housing conference and will always remember his graciousness and dedication. He was a great man who fought to make a better America. Now, perhaps more than ever, we must build on his legacy and continue to bravely fight for social change.”
