Miller: NYS Should Cooperate When Public Safety Is On The Line

A Statement from Assemblyman Brian Miller (R,I,C,Ref-New Hartford)

“It is an alarming message New York state is sending by not being willing to cooperate with federal law enforcement agencies, like homeland security, if or when there are reasons for concern. Having personally met with these agencies, I have been assured that our federal government is not looking for a list of people who are here illegally. They simply want to be able to access information in the event of a criminal investigation the same way they would be able to if the investigation led them to a United States citizen. I don’t understand why our state would be interested in harboring any criminal, or impeding an investigation where public safety is on the line.”
