| Enacts the "halal foods protection act of 2005"; protects consumers by providing for the labelling of foods as halal; requires all food and food products packaged in any container and sold or offered for sale as "halal" to have a "halal" label affixed by the manufacturer or packer at its premises; permits no person other than such manufacturer or packer shall affix such label; requires all food or food products that are not packaged in a container and are sold or offered for sale as "halal" to have a "halal" label affixed thereto; permits no person other than such manufacturer or packer shall affix such label; requires producers or distributors of food certified or labeled as halal to register with the department of agriculture and markets; requires appropriate labeling and signage by retailers; provides for enforcement by the department of agriculture and markets. | |
