An act to amend chapter 672 of the laws of 1993 amending the public
authorities law relating to the construction and financing of facili-
ties for certain public libraries, in relation to including the Matti-
tuck-Laurel library
PURPOSE:
This bill would add the Mattituck-Laurel Library to the list of entities
which are eligible for DASNY services.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 adds Mattituck-Laurel Library to the definition of "dormitory"
in section 1676 of the public authorities law, authorizing DASNY to
provide services to this library for the purposes of renovation and
expansion.
Section 2 adds Mattituck-Laurel to the definition of "dormitory" in
section 1680 of the public authorities law, authorizing DASNY to provide
services to this library for the purposes of renovation and expansion.
Section 3 sets forth the effective date.
JUSTIFICATION:
This bill would extend DASNY financing and construction authorization to
the Mattituck-Laurel Library to help finance the interior renovation and
redesign of the space to better serve the community's needs. If success-
ful, their participation in DASNY financing will provide stability to
the project and save taxpayers money on interest when compared with a
private loan.

AN ACT to amend chapter 672 of the laws of 1993 amending the public
authorities law relating to the construction and financing of facili-
ties for certain public libraries, in relation to including the Matti-
tuck-Laurel library
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 5 of chapter 672 of the laws of 1993, amending the
2 public authorities law relating to the construction and financing of
3 facilities for certain public libraries, is amended by adding a new
4 subdivision 56 to read as follows:
5 56. Mattituck-Laurel Library.
6 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
